music

Sean Hayes – Sean’s song “Flowering Spade” is the one playing on my “art page” video. Amazing performer, songwriter, captivating, thoughtful, endearing. Here’s his myspace page. (His web site seems a little glitchy right now – but you can listen on myspace).

Krystle Warren – OMG, Krystle’s CD is finally out! I saw her at a house concert last year and was blown away. Beautiful lyrics and presence. Someone in the audience shouted out for her to play “Eleanor Rigby” which I thought was fantastically rude, I mean, here she is singing all this incredible original stuff – how could someone ask her to sing a Beatles song? Like she would even know it? But then she did and I will never think of Eleanor the same again…Click here for a video of her singing. But look, that’s just a cover, her original songs are even more exceptional.

Jeff Young – I saw Jeff while he was on tour with Jackson Browne, but Jeff has his own band and makes fabulous music too. He’s got a new CD coming out in a couple of weeks, Pure Herringbone, visit his web site and get it!

Meet Me In The Badlands: Exploring Central Oregon with Jim Witty
Jim Witty wrote the Outings column for The Bulletin in Bend Oregon. In his articles, he took you with him on the trails, lakes, rivers and mountains of central Oregon. Jim’s unique writing style won him many fans. He wrote like he was: friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and humorous. No wonder his readers felt like they knew him, even though they never met him.

After Jim’s untimely death in November of  2008, family and friends took it upon themselves to finish a project he was working on for years… to publish a book of his articles. With the help of The Bulletin and countless volunteers, this dream has become a reality. It was released November 2009!

I’ve got the book, and it’s wonderful – a total delight to read and plan adventures with. Jim was my dearest friend in college and this book reflects so much of who he was. I have no doubt that his book will become the quintessential guide to Central Oregon outdoors. So, what are you waiting for? Get Outside!
